Simon & Schuster Australia (S&S) and HarperCollins Publishers Australia (HCP) announce that from 1 July 2017, distribution of Simon & Schuster titles in Australia and New Zealand will move to Harper Entertainment Distribution Services (HEDS), a division of HCP.
Simon & Schuster would like to thank United Book Distributors (UBD) for their service over the last 8 years.
As of 1 July 2017, all orders for Simon & Schuster and distribution client titles will be supplied by HEDS.
New release titles July onwards
Orders for July new release titles should be sent to UBD. These orders will be supplied by HEDS, with transfer arranged automatically from UBD to HEDS.
Booksellers who wish to receive delivery by the HEDS July in-store date of 19 June will need to have their order to UBD by Friday 31 May.
Orders for July new releases not received by UBD by the cut-off date 31 May may not be delivered until 3 July or later.
EDI orders, including those for August and September releases, can still be transmitted to UBD up until 30 June for collation and transfer to HEDS. After 1 July all EDI orders will be transmitted to HEDS.
All non-EDI customer orders for August and later releases are to be sent to HEDS.
Back catalogue orders
All back catalogue orders for S&S titles are to continue to be sent to UBD up to and including Friday 30 June and these will be despatched by UBD.
All back catalogue orders as from 1 July are to be sent to HEDS. The flow of all EDI orders will be switched over from UBD to HEDS to facilitate this.
Back catalogue orders received by UBD that are out of stock prior to 30 June will be backordered by UBD then transferred to HEDS.
After the 1 July changeover, UBD will redirect customers placing phone, fax, and email orders to HEDS.
Returns
Returns for books invoiced by UBD must be processed by UBD.
We ask booksellers to be aware of the below key cut-off dates and plan their returns accordingly, as HEDS will not accept returns for books invoiced by UBD.
Requests to return Simon & Schuster titles should be sent to UBD by Friday 1 September.
This allows time for the authorised returns to be sent to and arrive at UBD and be processed by UBD by Friday 29 September.
UBD will not process any returns after Friday 29 September, so please don’t delay in sending your returns once authorised.
Books received by UBD too late for processing and/or sent to UBD without an RA will be returned to the customer at the customer’s expense.
HEDS will not accept returns which were not invoiced by HEDS. These will be returned to the customer at the customer’s expense.
